Notice: Jr. Boys and Jr. Girls Divisions

Due to weather cancellation this past Sunday, there will be an additional full round robin session Sat. 2 pm @ Cheshire Academy to finish up matches. This is in addition to our regularly scheduled Wed. 6:30 pm session. We aim to have all players face one another prior to determining semifinalists. Semifinalists will stay on Saturday to play each other immediately following the Sat session. All parents and players are invited to come back Sunday 6/20 for the Junior finals @ 9 am in additional to other division championship matches and "Breakfast at Wimbledon"

Attention Juniors and High School players

ESPN RISE, the high school arm of ESPN, is partnering with the YMCA/Wint Filipek Sr. Memorial Tennis Tournament and is building a web page to promote the event. Recognizing the talent in this tournament, the ESPN RISE page will feature coverage of the athletes and the results as well as allow the participants to put up their own comments, blogs, photos and videos. All athletes aged 13-19 are encouraged to go to ESPNRISE.com and register for free to be part of the site. THIS IS NOT YOUR ORDINARY TENNIS TOURNAMENT!

The premier community tennis tournament in New England is right here in central CONNECTICUT!
The Wallingford Family YMCA/Wint Filipek Sr. Memorial Tennis Tournament is scheduled for June 12th – 20th. 
In 2009, the event drew 590 entries.

The 9-day event will feature: 21 divisions for all levels, a Free Kids & High School Clinic & Fun Day, and several special events.

Tournament supports the Wallingford YMCA's Strong Kids Campaign. "No child turned away for inability to pay."

General Rain Statement

If rain cancels ALL matches Sat - Weds, ALL matches those days will be pushed back one day. "If rain causes questionable playing conditions, please call your Division Coordinator for scheduling information (or YMCA, 203-269-4497 ext. 15). Your division coordinator will be calling you before your first match to let you know of starting dates/times. Check HERE for updates.

It should also be noted that "unless you specifically hear different, all matches are on." No one should assume matches are rained out. It can be pouring in New Haven and the sun is out in Wallingford

Tournament Notes

1. This year, Draw Sizes increased as follows:
    {64} HS Girls Singles - Men B Singles
    {48} Mixed B Doubles
    {32} Men A Singles; Women B Singles;
           Women B Doubles
2. Additional Match Times: both Saturdays/1st Sunday
3. Division Descriptions:
   A = NTRP 5.0 & above: highly skilled player
   B = NTRP 3.5, 4.0 + 4.5: good/above average
          player
   C = NTRP 3.0 & below: limited experience, not more
          than one win in our B Division.
4. Weekday starting times: 5:00 PM+ 6:30 PM
